Brown-RISD Hillel seeks an Executive Director to work in close partnership with the Rabbi, alongside students, staff, and the Board of Trustees in building and sustaining a meaningful, vibrant, and pluralistic Jewish campus community.

Overview

The Executive Director ("ED") is responsible for the financial and operational success of the organization, fostering relationships with the Board of Trustees, spearheading financial campaigns, communicating with Brown's and RISD's administrations, strengthening community ties, and hiring and supervising staff. The ED reports to the Brown Hillel Board of Trustees and to the President of Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life.

The ideal candidate will be committed to partnering with the Board, staff, students and community members for organizational excellence. The ideal candidate relishes working with college students and respects the full diversity of Jewish belief and practice. The ideal candidate will exemplify Jewish leadership.

The position requires a proven track record of professional success, with training and experience in organizational management, financial resource development, campus leadership and Jewish culture and values. An advanced degree in an applicable field and a minimum of 5 years of prior professional experience are preferred. A rabbinical degree is preferred but not required. Executive Director Responsibilities

Develop, articulate, and promote a vibrant vision for Jewish student life.
The ED will work closely with the Rabbi to establish annual goals that support development and growth in the Brown-RISD Jewish community. Those goals will include enhancing the experiences of students already involved as well as reaching out to the uninvolved. To do this, the ED will develop strong relationships with the student executive board and the larger student leadership. Additionally, the ED will exemplify a life informed by Jewish values, including a dedication to Tikkun Olam, Israel, and Spiritual Life, to students, staff, the University, and the Board.

Spearhead Hillel's development campaign
The ED is charged with the task of coordinating the fiscal operation of Hillel through budgeting and fundraising. In conjunction with the Rabbi, the Board, and development staff, he/she will plan campaign strategies, build relationships with Hillel's donor population, assist in the solicitation of major gifts for both the annual campaign and the endowment effort. The ED will also pursue foundation grant applications and planned giving effort.

Promote the growth and continued vitality of the Board of Trustees
The ED will serve as the primary liaison among the Board of Trustees, staff, and students. He/she will work closely with the president of the Board to cultivate Board member involvement, solicit Board support, and assist in the recruitment of new members.

Oversee the performance and ongoing professional development of Hillel staff
The ED will work closely with the Rabbi in recruiting and retaining the best possible staff. Together with the Board Personnel Committee, he/she will set personnel policies, establish an appropriate work environment, and provide staff with opportunities for continuing professional training and education.

Collaborate with key stakeholders
The ED will work in conjunction with several populations, including Brown and RISD students, Hillel staff, Board members, the Jewish Federation of Rhode Island and member agencies, Providence Jewish community leaders, and Hillel: the Foundation for Jewish Campus Life.

Offer leadership in marketing, public relations and promotional activities
The ED will ensure an appealing image of Hillel among the student populations of Brown and RISD and in the greater Providence community.
